The Employee Appeals Board was created by the Mississippi Legislature in 1980. The EAB provides state employees with a fair and impartial forum to appeal certain personnel actions. State employees may appeal personnel actions that adversely affect their compensation or employment status.
The EAB is comprised of three Hearing Officers, one from each Supreme Court district, who are appointed by the Mississippi State Personnel Board. Hearing officers conduct hearings and render decisions on appeals.
MSPB staff provides administrative support to the hearing officers. Because the EAB is separate from MSPB, MSPB is not involved in the hearing officers’ decision-making process.
